Peter Tompkins
*Tompkins, Peter and C. Bird. The Secret Life of Plants (1973). Darwin opined that plants have no nervous systems. This book tells quite a different story. A wonderful introduction to the intelligence system of planet Earth. Note in particular the chapter titled "Mind Over Matter."
After you’ve finished The Secret Life, follow up with a reading of Malidoma Some’s Of Water and the Spirit (1994). "What we see in everyday life is not nature lying to us, but nature encoding reality in ways we can come to terms with under ordinary circumstances. Nature looks the way it looks because of the way we are…." (225-26)
