Authored by Theodore D. Hall, Ph.D., edited by Val Valerian, 469 pages, 8 1/2 by 11 Velo Bound, Leading Edge Research Group, 1997. A fascinating book, says Sir Laurence Gardner, author of Holy Blood, Holy Grail after reviewing THE ARK January 1999.
The Ark is a book about getting away from the current, nightmarish sinking reality called “modern Western civilization” to a new, enlightened, wholesome reality. The Ark is comprised of three sections. The first section, A Way Out: Creating a Sane Civilization By Means of a Paradigm Shift, is an outgrowth of Dr. Hall’s outline work, Avoiding Extinction (Oct 1995), much expanded and revised. The second section, The What’s What Concept Guidebook, is a source book primer of key concepts, definitions and expansions relating to the paradigm shift from pseudo-scientific scientism to scientific holism. The third section, The Big One: Paradigm Shift Practicum, lays out workable suggestions and recommendations relating to personal participation in the big shift. It answers the question what can I do? The book, over 450 pages in length, closes with a hearty “Afterword” and the famous essay that offered the original basis for The Ark - Dr. Bruce Lipton's treatise called The Biology of Consciousness. How is it possible to get from the current situation to a new reality? Hall answers: “By changing the basic paradigms or belief systems that underlie our society and civilization.” Hall explains: “If a people believe that life is incessant warfare, then life will be devoted to war; if they believe that people are ‘sex and violence machines’, then they will support (and even demand) the creation of a monolithic police state.” Western civilization is on a path of self-destruction, Hall maintains, as a result of its blind commitment to the establishment of science as a religion, especially that component known as “Darwinism”. Hall indicts Darwinism and its derivative orthodoxy (neo-Darwinism) as a fraud, and in making his case sets forth not only the scientific refutation of both orthodoxies, but also a full account of the political importance of these pseudo- sciences in the rise of state socialism and “techno- totalitarianism,” as first demonstrated in the Third Reich. For many, Darwinism was an “Ark of Truth” that came to “rescue mankind” from the dark waters of dogmatism and madness. Although many insist that the establishment must be destroyed for things to change, Hall provides another alternative, proposing programs and changes that offer all parties the challenge to cooperate. “A very interesting challenge,” Hall says, “because both New World Order proponents and their sworn opponents base themselves, in terms of philosophy, on the Darwin paradigm, which tells us that the medium of evolution and progress is struggle and not cooperation.” Here, at last, are laid out solutions that help us get out of our current difficulty using things based within the existing system that will modify the existing system into a more progressive societal base upon which the coming consciousness can build. The book includes revealing graphic charts created by Val which summarize material in the text. Two of my other books of the late nineties are available through Leading Edge. Both books contain segments that are now dated; both are presently being re-constructed. They will be available in a less expensive format later in the year. -- Ted Hall US Domestic Order Form Val's Website |
